A quick update!

Greetings Overlords!

I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season since the last update! As I promised to provide updates every 1-2 months until you receive your games, I am here to provide a brief one covering the latest news.

First off, we have worked out the kinks we were worried about in terms of gameplay. These included:

• Some of the new features that we added had interactions that would wildly affect the final scoring, which was not intended.
• Two of the new Overlord abilities were also not working as intended. This made one of them Overpowered, in Pancakes case, and underpowered in Spjarkle’s case.
• Some of the Aftermaths granted by completion of Villainy and Domination plots warranted a change in the amount of Misery Points awarded, proportional to the effect the Aftermath had on the game.

We have reworded and reworked these issues and they are now at a point we are happy with. Thankfully, playtesting and proofing are never-ending processes, and these continued long after the Kickstarter campaign ended.

We also have been proofreading and editing the rulebook over and over and over again to make sure that all of the instructions are concise, but still complete.

And that also bring us to spelling and grammatical errors. I hate these. These are the bane of my existence. I swear I find more of these every time I look, even when I think I have found everything. I am likely exaggerating, but that’s just how much I dislike them. The first time that we released Overlords, we thought we had everything perfect, and yet I still find small errors here and there, years later. We are doing everything we can to make sure that these are all worked out by production time.

That is what has been taking up the bulk of our time.

Lastly, production. We expect this should begin soon! We are finalizing all of our files and making sure everything is formatted correctly before this begins. I hope to have more information for you by the next update.

Greetings Overlords! 

First, I would like to apologize for the long delay between updates. I honestly did not realize it had been so long since the last update, and I lost track of time. I'm not really one for excuses, so I will just say that moving forward we will post an update at least once every two month, but more likely at least once a month.

As for the game... as you may have noticed, we are behind schedule. There are many reasons for this both personal and professional, but as I said, I am not one for excuses. We are working to make sure that the game we deliver to you will be the best possible product we can present. Rules, graphic design, clarity, and content are all being adjusted, checked, adjusted, rechecked, and so forth. This is taking longer than I would prefer, but I don't want to make the same mistakes as we did with the first edition of the game an ship a product that had plenty of errors. We have learned a lot since then and I am attempting to put those lessons into practice.

Another issue is that of the tariffs. December 15th is the date set by the President's administration by which time he has to determine if he will impose tariffs on  consumer goods coming from China. If he does this, please know that we have no intention of passing that extra cost on to you.

Conventions and Tariffs...

Greetings Overlords!

I hope you are all well during this lead-up to summer! I am here with your semi-regular update to tell you about the upcoming conventions we will be attending and to address a question have been asked a lot recently. First up:

Convention Schedule

Obscure Reference Games will be at the following upcoming conventions (potentially more TBA):

Origins Game Fair: June 12-16

San Diego Comic Con: July 18-21

Strategicon's Gateway 2019: August 30 - September 2

PAX Unplugged: Dec 6-8

We'll be showing Misery Loves Company and discussing our future games. During Origins, we will be selling the absolute last copies of Overlords of Infamy's first printing, which we had previously set aside for demo and promotional purposes. We also have new pins and goodies at our booth! 

Additionally, David will be at Gen Con if you can find him!

Tariffs 

These won't be fun. I have been asked quite a bit lately about what the new Tariffs will mean for fulfillment of our campaign, and the answer is nothing good. However, we are committed to fulfillment for all of our backers without asking for any additional money from them. We will figure out how to make it work on our end. All of you will get your games. 

That is the good news. The other side of the coin is that we will be delayed and it may take longer to fulfill the campaign while we accrue the additional funds needed to do so. We are working on solutions as we speak and will keep everyone abreast of information as it becomes available. At the moment we are confident we will be able to fulfill before the end of the year. 

Overall, the Tariffs will hit us hard. There is absolutely nothing good that can come of this for us, and will make continuing as a small business difficult. We're not going to give up, but we definitely need to take a good hard look at everything we do moving forward.

Greetings Overlords!

Hope you're all doing well! Stopping by to tell you that we will be at Origins Game Fair in June, and you should absolutely stop by to say hello if you will be there! We'll be showing the expansions of Overlords and we may even have some new pins available (these will also be available on Backerkit!)! 

We are making good progresson the game and will soon be sending our final files to the Manufacturer. We are currently on track to ship in August/September! I will keep you posted on this as always.

Lastly, please take some time to fill out your BackerKit surveys if you haven't already! We have about 80% of surveys completed, but we want to get that to 100% SOON!
